We consider environmental responsibility an important part of managing our manufacturing operations. We focus on the efficient use of energy and raw materials, reducing material losses and developing solutions that support the circular economy.
Energy and Climate
We develop solutions aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of our manufacturing operations. Both companies use renewable energy sources and participate in the Demand Side Response (DSR) programme, which supports the stability of Poland's electricity system.
Key initiatives implemented at POL-MAK facilities include:
- upgrading lighting to LED technology, for which an energy efficiency certificate (the so-called White Certificate) was obtained,
- replacing and modernising production equipment to improve energy efficiency,
- using heat pumps and heat recovery solutions in production processes,
- gradually electrifying our forklift fleet,
- using cogeneration to produce electricity and heat simultaneously at the Iława production facility.
Raw Materials, Products and Circular Economy
A responsible approach to raw materials and product design is an important part of our operations. We consider the origin of the materials we use, opportunities to incorporate recycled materials and how products and packaging can be managed after use.
Our activities include:
- offering selected products made from recycled materials,
- using raw materials covered by FSC® and PEFC certification and chain-of-custody systems,
- expanding our range of products with verified compostability, certified under the OK compost HOME scheme,
- using cardboard packaging made from recycled materials,
- assessing the recyclability of selected packaging used for our products.
Environmental certifications and verified properties apply to specific products or materials, in accordance with the scope of the relevant certification.

Waste and Resources
Responsible waste and resource management is an important part of our production processes. We focus on reducing material losses, ensuring proper waste management and using raw materials, energy and water efficiently.
Our activities include:
- separately collecting waste generated during production processes,
- cooperating with authorised waste management companies for material recovery and recycling,
- monitoring energy, raw material and water consumption,
- continuously improving production processes to reduce material losses and use resources more efficiently.
Awards and Certifications
Our energy efficiency initiatives have been recognised in the Energy Transition Leaders competition. In 2024, Zakład Poligraficzny POL-MAK received the Energy Transition Leader title, followed by POL-MAK IŁAWA in 2025.
Management systems, audits and certifications also play an important role in the operations of both companies, with their scope reflecting the specific characteristics of individual facilities, processes and products.
